Trailmaster Agenda: Swamp Lake

Swamp Lake - August 16th - 19th
Trailmaster: Jeff Ellis

Jeff gave an update on the run noting that camping will be at the Wishon Village campground, approx. 3 miles from the trailhead, and that if you plan to go, you will need to make your own reservations. Details for that is shown below.

Jeff would like to request for folks planning on attending to please respond and let him know so that he can plan accordingly. Knowing who to expect is always good so that we don't leave anyone behind. Also, it helps to get folks aligned to caravan to and from the trail. If anyone has any questions, please be sure to let him know. Jeff will be happy to try to answer any of them for you. Incidentally, this run has some challenging spots, and he would say the it is only moderately easier than Rubicon or Fordyce. So, all rigs should be well equipped and fully up to date on maintenance. Jeff would NOT recommend stock vehicles on this run. Plan for this run the same way you would for Rubicon. Breaking on the trail makes the day all that much longer, so if we can avoid that by taking a few precautions – all the better.

Jeff will be leaving Thursday afternoon, with Friday being additional travel day for folks and for those who arrived on Thursday, there will likely be some scouting of new trails for the club. Saturday is the official Swamp Lake Trail run. Departure time is schedule for 9:30 from the campground/10:00 from the trailhead. It is an ALL day trail, and could run into the evening depending on trail conditions and vehicle breakdowns. So, plan accordingly. Sunday will be a leisurely get up and packed and head for home day. For questions or to arrange caravanning, contact Jeff.

The following is the information regarding the campground location where we are intending to stay for the Swamp Lake run. If you are planning on going, and planning on camping with the group, you will need to contact them to make your own reservations. Be sure to mention that you are with the SC4WDC club and that you would like to be put as close to other members if possible. The rates are $34 for RV full hookups, and $23 for tent camping with shower/bathroom facilities. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. This should be a really great run and I look forward to seeing you there! - Jeff
